Administrative History | Oldmill poorhouse was built in 1907 replacing the existing poorhouses of St. Nicholas and Old Machar. The site, which included two hospital blocks, a general block and a special block with accommodation for 220 and 164 cases respectively, was requisitioned as an emergency hospital during the First World War. It reverted to its original use for a short period following the war, but in 1927 was transferred to the town council's jurisdiction and re-opened as Woodend Municipal Hospital. Since April 1999 Woodend Hospital has been part of the newly created Grampian University Hospitals Trust. |
