Title | Slide showing a line graph demonstrating 'the results for female and male inter-sexuality'. |
Date | Late 19th to early 20th century |
Extent | 1 slide |
Description | Slide shows a line graph demonstrating 'the results for female and male inter-sexuality'. There is explanatory text below the graph, which reads: 'Fig. 43. Diagram combining the results for female and male inter-sexuality. Time of development on the abscissa. The distance from zero to the beginning of the curves on the ordinate measures the relative valency of the gene, the action of which is represented as a curve. Thick lines: the curves for strong F (Fst) and weak F (Fs). Ordinary lines: the curves for strong and weak M (Mst, Ms) as well in the genetic female combination = one M, as in the male combination = MM. The different normal sexes and male and female intersexes are represented by any combination of one of the F with one of the M - ([female, female I]) or with one of the MM-curves ([male, maleJ]). o = turning point. Below the linear diagram of the F/M ratios (see fig. 4) as well for female as for male intersexuality. Broken lines connecting the turning points on the curves with the diagram of ratios make visible the relation between the static representation of the ratio-diagram and the dynamic representation by curves of reaction velocities.' |
