Date | Late 19th century to early 20th |
Extent | 1 slide |
Description | Slide shows black and white chart demonstrating 'The number of contraceptor women per 100 non-contraceptor women in the indicated economic, parity, and race classes.' Title of chart reads: 'For every 100 non-contraceptors in each class there are the indicated numbers of contraceptors in the same class.' The columns on the chart indicate white women [hatched white columns] and black women [black columns], the actual word used on the chart is 'negroes' which gives indication of the age of the slide as this term is now considered offensive to black people. There are four sets of figures refering to 'Very poor', 'Poor', 'Modern Circumstances' and 'Well-to-do and rich'. The last two sets have the note 'No Negroes in this class'. The title below the image reads: 'Fig. 31. The number of contraceptor women per 100 non-contraceptor women in the indicated economic, parity, and race classes. The wavy lines are inserted to make it easier visually to connect comparable bars for the white primiparae and multiparae.' |
