Description | Slide shows two black and white photographs of a full-length naked human male (one of front and one of back). Label below photographs reads 'Fig. 157. - Case of pituitary infantilism. (Byrom Bramwell.) The patient was 27 when the photograph was taken. His height was 4 feet 1 and 3/4 inches. Notice the arrested development of the sexual organs, the deficiency of hair, the adiposity, the slender limbs and digits, and the general approach to the feminine type of body.' White handwritten label above images reads 'pituitary infantilism'. Adiposity = a collection of fatty tissue. Pituitary dwarfism/ infantilism is dwarfism caused by the lack of a functional anterior pituitary gland. |
