Description | Slide shows two black and white drawings of man suffering from 'Pituitary Acromegaly' - title appears at top of slide. Title below images reads 'Fig 152 - a case of acromegaly, front and side view. (Klebs and Fritsche.) The illustration shows the enlarged hands, feet, and joints, the massive elongated face and thick lips, the dorsal curvature (kyphosis), the apathetic look. Kyphosis, in general terms, is a curvature of the upper spine. It can be either the result of bad posture or a structural anomoly (in the spine). Acromegaly occurs when excess growth hormone (hGH) is produced by the pituitary gland. |
