The following information is recorded in the register: number, name of deceased, age, sex, last place of abode, date and place of death, time of removal, how disposed of (claimed by or unclaimed, in which case, teacher's name and time when sent to school), date of interment, place of interment. From 1925, an additional running number called 'our number' was also allocated - this probably relates to administration of related files by the University's Anatomy Department.
From 1935 onwards, the number of bodies transferred from Edinburgh, London and other regions becomes apparent:
1935 - 1936: 6 bodies out of 15 transferred from Edinburgh 1937 - 1936: 5 bodies out of 14 transferred from Edinburgh 1937 - 1938: 4 bodies out of 12 transferred from London Hospital Medical College 1938 - 1939: 6 bodies (out of 21) transferred from Manchester University 1939 -19340: 5 bodies out of 16 transferred from Guy's Hospital, London 1940 - 1941: 10 bodies out of 20 transferred from London Pool 1943 - 1944: 6 bodies transferred from London Pool and 6 from Cambridge, out of 20
During the year 1944 -1945, ten bodies from a total of twelve were infants under two weeks old.
All bodies were interred in Trinity Cemetery, excepting one, transferred to St Andrews. |
