Administrative History | In session 1894 - 1895 the first Students' Union was opened in Marischal College. There were also 'ladies' rooms' at King's and Marischal Colleges, but an official Women's Union was established at a new site at 52 Skene Terrace in 1925. It closed in 1934 after financial difficulties, and the Women's Union moved into temporary rooms at Marischal College, until the new Gallowgate union site was built. In 1933 the University Court had purchased a site across the road at the junction of Upperkirkgate and the Gallowgate and the new union opened in January 1939. The Gallowgate union site closed in 2004 and since then there have been various sites at King's College campus in Old Aberdeen. |
