Administrative HistoryBorn in 1806, John Glennie was sixth of the eight children of George Glennie, MA, DD (d 1845) and Margaret Valentine, niece of James Beattie (1735 - 1803). He graduated AM at Marischal College, Aberdeen in 1824 but did not take up a profession. He died in 1864.

Margaret Glennie was fifth of the eight children of George Glennie, MA, DD (d 1845) and Margaret Valentine, niece of James Beattie (1735 - 1803). Little is known of her life.

Description'Journal of a tour thro' part of Scotland' by John Glennie. The itinerary includes passage from Aberdeen to Newhaven, Edinburgh, Stirling, Dunblane and Dundee (1825). This collection also comprises three journals by Margaret Glennie, including material on holidays and visits to Edinburgh during the meeting of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland (1825 - 1835). The emphasis in her journals is personal and social rather than topographical.

Physical DescriptionThe volumes each measure 18.5 x 11.5 cm. MS 981/1-3 are bound in quarter-calf with marled boards; MS 981/4 is sewn into marled boards. All are in good condition.
