TitleJames Clerk Maxwell to P.G. Tait: Letter
Date21 November 1857
Extent1 item
DescriptionLetter from James Clerk Maxwell, 129 Union St., Aberdeen to [P.G.] Tait. [J.F.] Maclennan was in error in believing Maxwell had published two papers on electricity: his only one on Faraday's line of force had been read in two parts but published as one. He reports on correspondence with fellow scientists, Hayward in Durham and Peters in Konigsberg, on geophysical problems and summarises work being undertaken by his own students in the first and second years. He also describes research on Saturn's rings and concludes with mention of friends James Thomson (who is applying for a chair in Engineering), W.D. Cay, Frederick Fuller and J.F. Maclennan.
