Administrative HistorySir Hugh Campbell of Calder, or Cawdor, was descended from the union of the Campbells and the Calders, Thanes of Cawdor near Inverness. Sir Hugh was born in 1642 and spent much time at Cawdor Castle, carrying out extensive renovations in the 1660s. He married Lady Henrietta Stewart. Their eldest daughter, Margaret, married Hugh Rose of Kilravock (d 1732) who was Sheriff of Ross. Sir Hugh Campbell died in 1716.
DescriptionEssay on the Lord's Prayer, manuscript, c 1704. The text, which was dedicated to Sir Hugh's grandson, Hugh Rose of Kilravock (d 1755), was printed in 1704. Sir William Gordon's name appears in the endpapers.
