Title'The English Persius', translated by Alexander Cuming
Date1745 - 1755
Extent0.01 linear metres
Administrative HistoryTranslated by Alexander Cuming (later Sir Alexander), a student, under the supervision of William Smith in Aberdeen. According to Flora Roy, a scholar who studied the volume in 1980, it is a copy made much later than the original work carried out around 1707. From internal evidence, it was over forty-two years since he had left Westminster School where he had started the work: he had continued it at Aberdeen under Smith, and it was later completed by his son.
SourceApparently purchased by the library around 1900.
