DescriptionJournal entitled "D'aprés Nature par A. Ogston" kept by Alexander Ogston during a trip to Norway in 1882 with his wife Isabella. On the first page Ogston states that this journal is reproduced in a better form in 'Scattered Recollections' but evidence of this book has yet to be found. The spellings of some of the place names have been corrected where possible but have been included as they are written in the volume.

Scandinavia; Aberdeen to Leith by the steam-ship St. Magnus; describes travelling conditions with sketch of sleeping quarters (pages 1-8)
21 July 1882: Leith to Christiansand; description of graveyard and sketch of grave at Christiansand; describes town of Christiansand; valley of Ravnedal; trip up [Ottera] River; sketch of harbour at Christiansand (pages 10-18)
26 July 1882: Christiansand to Stavanger; complains of rheumatism; describes scenery and climate; Flekkefiord with sketch of house (pages 19-23)
Stavanger: "Arrived at night in a queer little labyrinth of a town: corkscrewed through the town to the Hotel du Nord, and found everything as it must have been in the year eleven hundred" (page 24)
