1)Letter from Professor Ian Young to Professor Mallard dated 29 August thanking him for nominating him for the Whittle Medal which is presented by The Royal Academy of Engineering though he doubts that he will recieve it. He gives an account of the political battles between the research units at Hammersmith Hospital, London.
2)Letter from Elizabeth Horwitz, Manager Special Projects, Royal Academy of Engineering to Professor Mallard dated 24 October 2003 thanking him for his nomination of Professor Young. Handwritten note referring to a phonecall dated 13 November 2003 between Fiona Mallard and Dr Horwitz in reference to Sir Peter Williams not yet submitting his letter of recommendation.
3)Copy of the Rules and Conditions for the Frank Whittle Medal.
4)Copy of the citation submitted for Professor Young.
5)Letter to Professor Mallard from Professor Young dated 19 May 2004 informing him that he has been awarded the Whittle Medal and thanking him for his nomination.
6)Copy of a letter from Professor Mallard to Professor Young dated 25 may 2004 congratulating him on being awarded the Whittle Medal.
7)Letter from Professor Young to Professor Mallard dated 31 May 2004 thanking him for the letter and looking forward to seeing him at the award dinner.
