DescriptionLetter from John Ellis, Gray's Inn, London, to David Skene in which he states that he has received sertularia muricata which is new to him; he describes the parts of the sertularia and the progress of their growth; he believes Linnaeus knows nothing of them and will sit down with Dr Solander to arrange them for him; he agrees that Linnaeus does not understand English and remarks that he has had a letter from him asking for all the information he can give regarding 'the kingdom of Neptune' as he is now publishing his 'Regnum Animale'; he informs Skene that he has received an 'extrordinary sea-production' from Mr P Collinson and describes it, he is told it is a sea fungus from Norway; he thanks Skene for the fucus piperatis which he had had before in abundance but the baderlocks he had never seen; Solander has been showing Duke of Atholl the museum but will answer Skene's objections to 'Linnaeus' Zoophytes', 25 April 1765.
