DescriptionLetter from David Skene to John Ellis in which he states that there are more specimens of pennae marinae on their way and that he will send one on to Ellis via the first London ship; He will send more as soon as his other cargo arrives so Ellis may present a specimen to the Duchess; he has found Pallas' books being advertised and has sent for one; he thanks him for the snail bearing coralline; he asks him to pick out another microscope the next time he calls at the makers as he wants to obtain one for a friend; he states that Ellis must have mistaken him about the Cambrick Act; he would be glad to know of any good and cheap plates of insects; he remarks that Linnaeus' experiments with smut are truly curious - 'to ascertain the matter of the fungi becomes vermicular and that the worms again become fungi would be worth any labour, 24 April 1767.
