DescriptionLetter from David Skene to his father, Andrew Skene, in which he states his pleasure in learning that everything he has done so far has been in accord with his father's will; he has, with advice from William Fordyce and Thomas Blackwell, bought a horse and obtained travelling furniture; he and Thomas Blackwell intend to set off the following day and he anticipates the journey as 'the most agreeable part of my travels'; he describes the health of the Strachans; he has visited William Smellie who has desired him to write should anything unusual happen in his medical practice; he has not seen William Hunter who has had to give up his lectures and go to the country; he has seen both Mr Munckly and Dr Ross; he borrowed the 8 guineas for his mare from Thomas Blackwell which he hopes to pay back by selling the mare in London, 8 June 1753.
