Description | Letter from David Skene to his father, Andrew Skene, in which he states that he is still in London awaiting the arrival of his baggage; he describes Smellie's forceps for his father who has never seen them and intends to bring a pair back with him; has had no lectures on chemistry and botany as there were no public lectures offered in France so wishes to 'stay a little in Edinburgh and take Dr. Alston's help'; he discusses his plans to travel home and prefers going overland rather than by sea; he does not intend to buy a horse; he may travel north with Mr Blackwell, 19 May 1753. |
