TitleLetter from Adams to John Hargreaves
Date16 June 1989
Extent3 sheets
DescriptionAdams and Jaabe were invited to the opening of the Oxfam America workshop. Adams gave a speech and they were shown round the workshop, which was very impressive and fully stocked. Then joined other guests and apprentices for some lunch, it was a outing they didn't mind going to. Dakar is filled with refugees, not Senegalese expelled from Mauritania, but fellow Mauritanians. Adams worries that if Mauritania does not stop their expulsion of their black African population war cannot be avoided. Cannot understand why Mauritania would want to start a war against Senegal. Adams is pleased that Channel 4 has agreed to fund 50% of the film, but cannot give the full amount as it 'far from being an all British undertaking.' But it should be easier to find the rest of the money now that Channel 4 has backed the project.
