Administrative HistoryRev. Cumming was an avid beekeeper, and wrote an extensive series of 'letters to the editor' in the Times concerning the proper care and appreciation of bees, which were signed 'A Bee-master, Tunbrige-wells'. These letters would later form the basis of Cumming's book 'Bee Keeping' (London, 1864).
DescriptionFive cuttings related to beekeeping. Three are letters regarding beekeeping from Cummings to the editor of the Times, one of which is a sermon in which Cumming draws parallels between the habits of bees and Christian virtues. Also included are a review of Cumming's book 'Bee Keeping' and an article written in praise of bees which makes extensive reference to the 'Times Bee-master'.
