DescriptionExercise book marked "DICTIONARY ENGLISH - ciTUMBUKA", containing ciTumbuka language vocabulary list and loose papers containing language lessons and notes. Small softcover notebook, marked "CITUMBUKA", containing language vocabulary. Additional loose papers, some handwritten, some typed, sermon notes in English (some dated and location noted), prayers in English, notes for Teachers' Refresher Course, sermon notes and prayers in ciTumbuka language. Locations include Chasefu, Kondowe. Special occasions include Palm Sunday, Easter, Rain Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve. One prayer written on the back of part of typed paper, entitled "Provident Fund Chasefu Station Statement dated 23rd November 1943 with one addition." Shows contributions of African employees and remarks about why they left ("failing eyesight", "Died in service", "Polygamy", "Resigned to succeed Chief Tembwe"). Envelope addressed to "Livingstonia Mission, Chasefu Station" (split apart, with sermon notes written on the blank sections).
