DescriptionHard cover notebook, containing sermon notes in Macartney's hand, mostly in pencil, some Orders of Service, prayers, and full sermons, with amendments. Includes some with date and location, titles, or notation to indicate they are for special occasions (eg Palm Sunday, Epiphany, Communion, Confirmation, Refresher Course, Divisional Council Retreat), some marked 'Not preached', 'To Africans', 'To Europeans'. Locations include Akropong Theological College, Aburi (writing unclear) Girls School, Accra European, Koforidna European, Lovedale, Kukurantunin (writing unclear). Topics include racism, polygamy, Hitler, war. Notebook also contains some literary efforts: one short allegorical story "The ship race", story of white hares, and one story sermon. Occasional African language for prayer or greeting. Loose papers include Orders of Service, prayers, list of sermons proposed for a published collection, and sermon written on back of student answer sheets (appears to be teacher training exam). Last page written in African language (in Macartney's hand).
