Custodial HistoryThe papers described below were removed from folders marked 'Lockhart.'
DescriptionAnnotated papers, proofs and illustrations for 'Anatomy of the Human Body', originating from Robert D. Lockhart and relating principally to nerves. It is thought that this material was borrowed from Lockhart's earlier textbook, 'Living Anatomy' and there is a suggestion within these papers that 'Anatomy of the Human Body' was to have originally been called 'Lockhart's Anatomy.'

The series comprises:

File 1: copies of black and white photographs and x-rays (partly annotated).

File 2, 3 and 4: proofs (at various stages of development), illustrations and other material, principally relating to nerves. Some duplicates and annotations. Contents of folders 2 and 3 are date stamped, 1949 - 1950, 'From (the printers) Robert MacLehose & Co. L.D. University Press Anniesland, Glasgow'.

File 5: papers, notes and illustrations relating to nerves, some specifically identified as being from Lockhart. Removed from folder marked 'Commentaries: Cervical, Brachial, Sacral Demonstration including originals Nc16a, b, c, d Nc18a, b Nc15 b'.

File 6: miscellaneous manuscript notes and papers, including material relating to the lungs and heart.
