Administrative HistoryDerek D.G. Boyle BSc PhD (Hull) was appointed lecturer in Psychology at the University of Aberdeen in 1970. He was author of 'Psychology: The Aberdeen Connection' (1993), a short history of psychology teaching at the University of Aberdeen. He died on 18 October 1996.
Custodial HistoryDr Boyle's papers remained in the Department of Psychology following his death in 1996 and until their deposit in Special Libraries and Archives in 2003.
DescriptionResearch notes, photographs and typescript drafts prepared by Dr Derek Boyle for 'Psychology: The Aberdeen Connection' (1993). A typescript of the revised edition which was published by the Department of Psychology in 1997, marking the Department's centenary year and as a memorial to Dr Boyle, is also included.

The collection also includes the typescript of a paper delivered by Dr Boyle entitled 'What Shall We Teach the Teachers ?' (date and place of delivery unknown).
