DescriptionLetterbook containing outgoing letters for 1813 - 1820, from Aberdeen on behalf of the Aberdeen Leith and Clyde Shipping Company 'committee', to the following people: George Duncan, Glasgow [presumably ships' officer]; David Waddle [also known as Waddel], Leith; Mr W. ?Lonsbrught, Falkirk [presumably a customer]; Captain Wood ?Heres, Grangemouth; William Bell, Leith; John Alexander, Glasgow; Captain James Booth, Clyde Port Stonehaven; Captain Galloway, Leith; Robert Brown, Aberdeen; Captain McDonald, Aberdeen & London; Robert Knight, Portsoy; David J. Simpson, Leith and a number of others. Examples of topics covered in the letters include: damage of hemp and planting marked for J B H Greenock and stored on one of the Company's vessels; incorrect delivery of sundry goods; transportation of goods on the Forth post; lists of goods charges; weather conditions; details regarding ship routes and ports of call. Some letters are signed - for example by 'R M'.
