Administrative History'Sovereign', (221 tons) built in 1836 by A. Hall & Co., Aberdeen. Wooden paddler, sold to J. B. Adam 1865 and later same year to F. T. Barry, London and others. Stranded on 12 January 1872 on Arklow Bank, refloated and sold to E. Kearnon, Arklow. Wrecked on 7 January 1901 at Muros, Spain.
DescriptionScrapbook of newspaper [inc. Shetland Times, Evening Dispatch, Orkney Herald, Scotsman, Edinburgh Evening News, John O' Groat Journal] notices, cuttings and advertisements, mainly from the 1880s and 1890s, including an advertisement for 'Sovereign' sailing to Caithness, Orkney and Shetland and a register of former students of the Robert Gordon's College (August 1884 - June 1886).
