Administrative HistoryA special BOC/BPS International Symposium on Opioid Peptides and their Receptors was held at King's College, Aberdeen, to mark the ocasion of Kosterlitz's ninetieth birthday, 11 April 1993. Amongst other tributes, he received a framed certificate honouring his lifetime contribution to science, which was signed by Gordon Lees, for and on behalf of the British Opioid Colloquium [BOC]and the British Pharmacological Society [BPS]. The tribute makes particular reference to his often unorthodox ways of thinking, his attention to Scientific Method and the constant encouragement and inspiration that he has given to generations of younger scientists.
