DescriptionFour letters, first letter, dated 28 August 1986, from Dr John Hughes' secretary to Kosterlitz, relating to the new direct telephone number for John Hughes. Letter is annotated with 'Read 1/9/86'. N.B. ?remains closed under data protection legislation.

Second letter, dated 11 August 1987, from Hughes to Kosterlitz, talking about Hughes sorting out his office and reprints after four years in Cambridge; enclosing copies of Hughes' papers [not present in file] and asking Kosterlitz to send him spare copies of any of their joint papers, which were lost in the fire. Letter mentions Hughes' current work at Cambridge. Annotated with 'Read 12/8/87'.

Letter, dated 11 September 1987, from Kosterlitz to Hughes, thanking him for the reprints; enclosing reprints [not present in file] that will replace the papers Hughes lost in the fire; and saying that he looks forward to seeing Hughes at the Trier meeting the next week. Letter annotated with 'Posted 14/9/87 FC MAIL (LETTER RATE)'.

Letter, dated 11 February 1988, from Hughes to Kosterlitz, congratulating him on the award of his gold medal. Mentions the enclosed [not present in file] photograph from the Gordon Conference, which was held at Santa Barbara in 1987 and reprints, which Hughes sent. Annotated 'He phoned 16/2/88 Thanked him for reprints, discussed points of mutual interest'.
