| Administrative History | In 1978 the Royal Society entered into an agreement with the Chinese Academy of Sciences to encourage science exchange visits between China and Britain. In return for financial support from The Royal Society, British scientists were expected to give five or more lecture in various Chinese centres and to make visits to institutes in their respective fields. Kosterlitz was invited to join the 1981 exchange program and originally intended combining this trip with his existing lecturing commitments at the Eight International Congress on Pharmacology, Tokyo, 19 - 24 July 1981. These plans appear to have changed and the trip took finally place 3 - 17 November 1981. |
