DescriptionLetter to Colonel John Gordon of Cluny from John Taylor Gordon, Waterloo Hotel, Edinburgh, saying that his wife is recovering from illness and hoping to join him in Scotland, how he feels that the query as to his fitness for a commission was an insult to the Marquis of Huntly and to the Colonel, encouraging the Colonel to make use of his services, describing in part his new arms, advice he has received to make enquiries into his pedigree which he chooses not to do (with transcription and contemporary transcription) [31 January 1837]
