DescriptionLetter to Colonel John Gordon of Cluny from John Taylor Gordon, Queen of Scotland Steamer, off Aberdeen, encouraging Colonel Gordon to tell him at once if he has become unwelcome, explaining that he could have advanced even into the King's household but would not use his connexions, his discovery that Colonel Gordon has children, looking forward to meeting Miss Gordon, apologising for his assumption that he would be able to take care of the Colonel, hopes that his children will not regard him as a threat, mention of Burke's Peerage coming out with a correction sheet giving his new name, illness of his wife, relief that they have reached Aberdeen (with transcription) [11 January 1837]
