DescriptionLetter to Colonel John Gordon of Cluny from Dr. John Taylor, London, including recommendations for the continuance of Colonel Gordon's health, dismissive remarks about the medical profession in general, recommending that he does not involve himself with lawyers and business in an unhealthy season, looking forward to Highland mutton, dismissive remarks about luxurious living, his pride in his connexion with Cluny, the basis of his reputation as a doctor is in working with the poor (he then goes on to list a number of titled people whom he was called upon to treat, with success), desire to live retired in the country, the present government is hostile to him, reference to his early engagement to his cousin, mention that Gordon of Pitlurg envies him (Taylor) his pedigree (with transcription)26 November 1836
