Date1847 - 1999
Extent78 items
DescriptionPapers relating to the Tobago estates of Bacolet, Speyside and Trois Rivieres, originally purchased by Alexander Gordon (d.1801) and administered by him and his brother James (c.1749 - c.1776), later run by Alexander Gordon (c.1779 - 1839), divided at his death between Colonel John Gordon IV of Cluny and Charles Henry Gordon, his nephew. They were the source of considerable dispute both within the family and between family members and various representatives in Tobago. They were eventually disposed of by Captain John Gordon, V of Cluny (see also MS 3600/4/6/7, John Gordon IV's testamentary papers and MS 3600/5/4, Cluny Trust correspondence). The papers consist chiefly of letters and reports concerning the running of the estates.
