Creator Name | Ogilvie-Forbes, John Charles (1850-1931), of Boyndlie, antiquarian Ibn al-Wardi (d 1348), Persian poet, author of 'Kharidat ut Ajaib' or 'Pearl of Marvels', a cosmographical work. Administrative History | The son of Dr. George Ogilvie-Forbes, Professor of Physiology at the University of Aberdeen, John Charles Ogilvie-Forbes was born in 1850 and educated at Harrow, then at the universities of Aberdeen and Oxford. He graduated MA in 1871. In 1886 he inherited Boyndlie, Aberdeenshire and was a careful and interested proprietor. He took a prominent role amongst Scottish Roman Catholics, and shared his father’s interests in church history, as well as Scottish and local antiquities. He died in 1931 in Wiltshire. |
