| Description | Forty letters on personal and family matters, 1768 - 1778. The majority of the letters are written to his great-nephew, Viscount George Keith Elphinstone (1746-1823), later to become a respected and notable Admiral of the British Navy, active during the American War of Independence, blockading New York to prevent supplies from entring the harbour.
