| Description | Manuscript memoir of the young William Robertson Nicoll by Professor Henry Stephen M.A. D.D., who grew up with Nicoll in Auchindoir parish. After some background on the parish, Stephen describes their education at the parish school, then at Aberdeen Grammar School. He then gives a detailed description of their studies at Aberdeen University and of Nicoll's acquaintances there. Stephen later joined Nicoll at the Free Church College in Aberdeen and describes the lecturers and studies there. After their four years at the College, Nicoll and Stephen were separated and lost touch apart from occasional letters,
