DescriptionCritical of Colonel Monson's retreat in July 1804 in the face of Holkar's Cavalry during the Mahratta War, recording the dislike of the army for General Stewart and their high regard for Baird and Wellesley. He reports that General Wemyss in Ceylon was antagonising the natives by stupidly ordering Hindoo sepoys to attend Divine Service and says that the 78th Regiment was still at Bombay.
