TitleLetter from Lieutenant-Colonel George Airey to General W Stewart
DateApril 21st 1807
DescriptionAcknowledging reports of the two attacks (Rosetta and El Hamet) and expressing anxiety about the arrival of the Mamelouks. Points out the inevitability of each day's delay causing unavoidable wastage of troops. The General feels he cannot send re-enforcements without weakening his hold on Alexandria. Suggests that Captain Hallowell might help with seamen. The General doubts the wisdom of extending the British line and, as he has stated before, must leave the decision whether or not to take a position on the right bank to Brigadier-General Stewart
