Administrative HistoryJames E. (Eddie) Bothwell (1905-1980) joined the Cairngorm Club in 1927 and was Honorary Secretary and Treasurer from 1949-1962. His name is attached to many of the letters addressed from the Club during this period and his office at 34 Bridge Street became the unofficial headquarters of the Club and housed the Club library for many years (see 'The Cairngorm Club 1887-1987' by Sheila Murray, p.101).
DescriptionCorrespondence files covering all aspects of club administration and including handwritten and typed material. Subject matter varies from: Issues concerning the management and booking of lodges; Club membership payments; Club subscriptions including to national climbing clubs; Club running costs for insurance, accountants; correspondence with publishers regarding publications which are associated with the club; thank you letters for events and talks.
