DescriptionPrestburg, Cheltenham and Monmouth - Diary kept by a woman probably a member of the Ramsay of Balmain and Fasque family, possibly sister of Elizabeth Sidgewick, wife of Sir Alexander Bannerman of Elsick. She has brothers called Sidgewick and possibly Marmaduke, though the latter may be her nephew or even her brother-in-law. Her mother died 16 May 1812 and her father 1 March 1766. She mentions many of her other relations, but omits to give her own name. She lived at Montrose, and was possibly widowed there, leaving the place to travel, first to Cheltenham and then to Switzerland. On the whole her diary is of fairly slight interest, much of it being filled with weak religious verse, moralising and very minor family affairs.
