Miscellaneous letters, mostly to Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys including:James Murison, St. Andrews, concerning the education of Burnett's sons, which he discusses in some detail, 23rd January/ 11th september 1771.
Alexander Ramsay, concerning the military future od Burnett's son, Robert, he has had discussions with Lord Adam Gordon and Col. Watson and "they both agree that Edinburgh is the worst place that you can send him to" - since he has" failed going to Lausanne" and may be unwilling to make a second attempt, Col. Watson proposes that he be sent to Hall in Saxony, where he would "end his own nephew in preference to any other place for military ducation" 19th August 1772.
Account by Dr Andrew Burnett of the last illness and death of Sir Robert Burnett of Leys, who died 30th August 1759; minute of meeting before dr James gordo of Pitlurg, common procurator of Marischall College, Aberdeen at which Alexander Burnett, son of deceased Mr John Burnett, minister at Cluny, is presented by Andrew Burnett, surgeon in Aberdeen, his procurator as a bursar under the divinity and philosophy "burses" founded by Gilbert, lord Bishop of Salisbury, whose patron is sir Alexander Burnett of Leys, 27th July 1753. |
