DescriptionCorrespondence addressed to the Reverend John Cruickshank, Meiklefolla, 1774-1800, on a variety of theological subjects mostly from Bishop Kilgour. Including:

Letter from Reverend Andrew Macfarlane, Newmill, concerning a dissertation on polygamy in the Old Testament, matrimony as a civil affair, and opinions concerning the marriage of a Christian to a heretic or schismatic, 21st May 1774;

Letter from the same, mentioning Bishop Forbes' death, and the illness and death of Mr Gibb. Turriff, 11th December, 1775;

Letter from Bishop Kilgour, Peterhead, on the death of Mr Gibb of Turriff, pointing out that Cruickshank would have to carry on Gibb's work at Macterry and Turriff for the time being, 16th December 1775;

Letter from the same, informing Cruickshank that Mr Jolly was to divide his labours equally, and officiate alternately at Parkdargue, owing to the inability of Mr Smith, 9th July 1776;

Letter from Bishop Kilgour regarding the date of Mr Jolly's ordination to the priesthood, which had been fixed for the Wednesday between the 5th and 6th Sunday in Lent, 21st February 1777;

Letter from Bishop Petrie, 14th January 1785, on the state of his health, enclosing extracts from a letter by Bishop Seabury to Bishop Skinner. Bishop Skinner hoped to take passage for New York on the ship Triumph commanded by Captain Stout, "Both of the names will, I hope, prove ominous", 14th January 1785;

Letter from the Reverend A. Christie, New Crichie, on a visit of enquiry respecting his change of charge, 12th March 1800;

Letter from the same, concerning the deaconship of Mr Alexander Jolly, and his appointment to officiate at Turriff and to act as assistant to Mr Smith at Parkdargue, 2nd July 1776;

Letter from Bishop Kilgour. "The lad Jolly is to be put upon his trials" in hope that he will go to a vacant charge in the Brechin district. Mr Morrison of Turriff is also to go through the necessary trials. 14th June 1783.
