DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Grand Hotel, Grenoble, Dauphiné, to her relatives, regarding their uncertain plans for accommodation; some of their luggage is still at the station; account of journey from Chamonix, leaving in poor weather; delays on the way; pause at Aix for Uncle to see the church where Mr. Minto and Mr. Croom had preached; visit to the Thermal Establishment there; 1,400 soldiers are being treated there daily but there is greater capacity than that; comments on the facilities for massage; viewing the grottoes; the water is 112'F, with further details of its nature; some history of the development of the springs; the Hotel Pavillon at the station was more expensive than the Grand Hotel; accommodation is poor, dirty and expensive; nerves before starting her courses; music deplorable at church and the preaching was very poor; Uncle is to write to Dr. Nicoll; she intends to write to Miss Telford.
