TitleLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws to her parents, Robert and Maggie Laws
Date28 October 1920
Extent1 sheet
DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws to her parents to cover accounts of Mr. Gray, lawyer in Edinburgh [MS 3290/2/407], and referring too to an advertisement for a book by Edwin Smith, secretary of the Bible Society [absent], and a letter from Aunt Amy [absent], Mrs. Fleming has contacted Dowell's about her trunks, Mr. Livingstone has been sent keys, Dowell's is to be taken over by a London firm, which may well lead to a rise in storage charges, if Mme. Christen's house is available to them then the things in storage could be brought to France in the spring, Aunt would prefer to sail from Antwerp to Leith to arrange things and sell some things (which would fetch a good price) but the cost of travel is prohibitive, her parents must remember that their income will be about halved at home, story of two missionaries returning to China who had their salaries raised to £500, but were probably no better off, the enclosed account is a final settlement of Uncle's affairs, anxious about his shares depreciating and Uncle Aleck's expenses rising, in the mean time they are all right.
