DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Metz, to her relatives, regarding rain, recovery of Mlle. Stoufflet, treating the wife of a commandant, at the request of Dr. Bellieze, this made Amelia late for dinner which infuriated Mlle. Stoufflet, who said the treatment must be stopped, Amelia agreed to accompany a violinist 'a young law student serving his time' at a concert organised by the aumonier, confusion over arrangements, the performance is to be a mass for the dead for Dr. Louis, arguments over the piano with Mlle. Stoufflet, pleased to have avoided being called upon to entertain some officers, Miss Leigh Clare and Miss Scobell have given her good advice on dealing with the situation, Mme. Collin, the head nurse on the military side, is splendid and at 65 was a stretcher bearer at the front, but likes to dominate, Dr. Bellieze has helped her get round Mme.
