DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Metz, to her relatives, explaining that her letters will be curtailed by the sheer quantity of work every day in the hospital, regime militaire there, hours are 8 - 12 and 2.30 - 6.30 but the midday meal is lengthy and noisy, and is usually curtailed by the drug distribution, dinner is just the same and they often return to work afterwards to see to any severe cases, there are no night nurses so they can be called on at any time, they must ask if they want to go out between 12 and 2, Mlle. Stoufflet is in charge, as soon as Amelia has arranged her massage and mecanotherapie she will arrange to have leave each Sunday morning for church, there are services in both French and German, the machines for the mecanotherapie are from Weisbaden, and probably the same as the ones she tried to get for the Zander Institute, Mlle. Chiry is much better than Mlle. Samson, quick and efficient and with more experience than Amelia, they work well together, routine of the day now established, their ward is under Dr. Job but he is on leave as is Mlle. Chiry's friend Mme. Poilevy, and Dr. Parant is standing in, he is therefore very busy and not very sweet-tempered, description of simple albumen tests for urine, end of routine for day.
