DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Chambéry, to her relatives, regarding change in the weather to rain and snow; present of a box of chocolate truffles from the President of the hospital; description of them, the speciality of the region; leaving the apartment; the daughter of the landlady came to pick up the key as she was on business anyway - she is Life Insurance, Widow Routens & Co.; shifting the luggage in the rain; Aunt is rested but not as well as she might be as the food is heavy at the hotel, with sauces mixed into things; paperwork for departure will happen tomorrow; plans for her return to the hospital and provisions for her absence, including increased record keeping; M. Bugnard's treatment was haphazard; invitation for Amelia and Aunt to go to tea at the hospital's bureau with Mme. Martin, the President; as Amelia rose to go back to work, Mlle. Vernaz held her back and she was presented with an autograph book signed by the patients and staff (see MS 3290/2/206); in reply she fixed a notice to the board in the corridor, thanking everyone (see again MS 3290/2/206); Jouette has also given her a box like the one Raby gave her, and Martinez has given her a butterfly made from beads on wire; she would not be able to stand it all if she were not planning to come back; Plantard plans to return to the front and come back wounded to see her again; various others say they will pray for her and for her return.
