TitleLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws to her parents, Robert and Maggie Laws
Date21 January 1917
Extent1 sheet
DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, 7 Via Venti Settembre, Rome, to her parents, regarding general letter; distress at mother's illness and pain; pleased to hear of her recovery; anxiety of Dr. Innes and his diarrhoea; hopes for her care in the future; she will find it hard not to do things but she must rest; they suppose a chill brought on the intestinal trouble, similar to Uncle's; he has been worried over Blake's behaviour; he has been having nightmares about it; Blake's visit is over and the Committee's letter soothed him a good deal; he is hoping to stay on in Rome indefinitely, though he acknowledges that if things returned to the way they were before the war he would not be able to cope with the workload; he is not going to Mürren as most of the soldiers are Episcopalian, but they might go to Chamonix; Mme. B. has written to her granddaughter - she spent Christmas in Dresden and visited Herr and Frau Pfannstiehl; Miss Albrecht has also sent Amelia her good wishes from Lausanne before returning to study with Frau Wedekind; she had been ill and found Dresden a strain; good wishes to mother for recovery.
