DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Bergstrasse 33, Dresden, Germany, to her relatives, regarding visit to Blanket Bay and catching cold and influenza from the maid; she looked after Aunt at first, then Aunt improved and looked after her; Olga the maid's illness has highlighted how well she ran the establishment; domestic service is slavery; dangers of the pension's semi-spiral staircase and other domestic hazards; good income from running a pension; Frau Oeser to take a drive through Italy in a motor car; her daughters are always noisy on a Sunday night; she did little for Aunt when she was ill; Uncle's letter tells of the Lovells' visit, but they were to leave for Mentone; Mr. Sutherland has influenza; Muston's journey to Egypt had to be postponed because of neuralgia brought on by a visit to the Waldensian church; Mrs. Walker is pestering Uncle about the Bible Society meeting; poor donations from visitors to the church, who, amongst other things, expect ministers to sign and witness papers for nothing, a service for which the consulate charges a fee; Mr. Robertson is gone to Australia; Mr. Minto of Cannes has been very ill; Mrs. Campbell has sent a book; her husband is not over his fall and they are staying at Callander.
