DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Bergstrasse 33, Dresden, Germany, to her parents, thanking for cheque; comfortable living within income; cough preventing her singing lessons; taking glycerine as the chemist refused to give her ipecacuana without a prescription; asking father for prescription; Aunt's head cold has gone, but Amelia's influenza is taking longer; they are to join Uncle somewhere for the summer, perhaps Sterzing above Brixen; Uncle had considered retirement when he was ill, but is now ignoring it again; probable deficiencies in their Roman house after two years' absence; Maria the maid likes to buy new things, and does not repair old; probable move to Rome next winter; bad effect on Aunt's health; selfishness of men who devote themselves to their work and expect their womenfolk to do so too, while at the same time looking after the men; deaths of Mrs. Benton and Miss Small; Aunt quite relieved; Oscar not to be trusted to sleep in the house with women in it; Aunt must regulate her life and take things easy; Mme.
