DescriptionLetter from Amelia Nyasa Laws, Metz, to her relatives, regarding cooler weather, conspiracy between the doctors forcing Amelia to make her way around telling a lie to a patient, Dr. Belbeze's efforts to keep her have resulted at present in her name going down as a military servant on a low salary, the doctor wants her to replace Mme. Remy permanently, but she will not take advantage of her absence like that, he is also using her to oust Mlle. Stoufflet if he can, Mlle. Stoufflet has accused the nurses of returning to the wards in the evenings just to gossip with the patients, Amelia and Mlle. Malivoire have been collecting for the foundation of a hospital in Metz for curable tuberculous patients, partly from American Knights of Columbus who have been in town to present a statue of La Fayette to Metz as he was born there, some money collected but bad organisation meant less than could have been.
